So we met and fell in love, for some it was pretty instantaneous, for others . . . it took two whole dates.

Lots and lots of people teased us about the pace of our courtship. We went very slowly according to modern standards.

In 1998 Melissa quit her job at Beans & Brews, went on a fabulous Honeymoon with Emmaly to Akumal Mexico, and began school at Westminster College. She enrolled as a social science major.

Melissa chose to attend Westminster because they did not require the ACT or SAT, both of which she had neglected to ever take. After returning from her summer trip to Mexico, Melissa received a letter denying her entrance to Westminster. However when she went to talk to them about her case they changed their minds and accepted her. She went on to get the best grades of her life and to learn all kinds of new information.

1998 was a good year for Brett, he continued to do graphic design work for his mom and to rise and shine at 5:30 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for his beloved basketball.

Speaking of basketball Brett was very pleased to see his most favorite team of all time, the Utah Jazz reach the NBA finals. He was close to devastated when they lost.

Melissa was close to devastated when she found out she had fallen in love with a sports fanatic.

In April of 1999, a year and a month after we first started dating we finally moved in together.

The year of 1999 was relatively similar to 1998. We continued on with work and school and day to day living.

We decided to visit family in San Francisco for Melissa's birthday and the BIG Y2K extravaganza.

Little did Ms. Nelson know it, but Brett had big plans for New Years - Big Plans.
